a. Open Refrigeration Cycles:
These daemons can be used both for: (i) Vapor Refrigeration Cycles and (ii) Gas Refrigeration Cycles depending on the choice of working fluid model. The building block of all Open Cycle daemons is the Open Steady daemon (discussed in the Tutorial>Daemons> OpenSteady>Manual chapter), which should be explored first before using the refrigeration cycle daemons. |

b. Device Panel: The device panel in a refrigeration-cycle daemon is identical to the ones in the power-cycle daemons. By using radio button an individual device can be set to mixing (mixing chamber), separating (flash chamber) or non-mixing (heat exchanger) mode. |

c. Cycle Panel: The cycle panels for the power and refrigeration cycles are slightly
different. The thermal efficiency is replaced by COP, for instance. The Calculate
operation determines if the cycle is complete (by checking all the saved
devices) and then calculate all the cycle variables. d. Parametric Studies: Once a refrigeration cycle has been set up, it is relatively simple to evaluate the effect of changing one or more variables on the problem. For that simply change an independent variable (the parameter), say the turbine efficiency, to a new value, Calculate, and Super-Calculate. All calculations are updated to reflect the new value of the parameter. |
